‘Air Born: The MCA & Decca Years 1973-1984’ Incluye versiones nuevamente remasterizadas de cada álbum y single que la banda editó entre 1973 y 1984. Además, cuatro de los álbumes de la banda más icónicos se editarán de forma independiente en vinilo. Su álbum homónimo de 1973 ‘Camel’, sus álbumes tercero y cuarto, publicados en 1975 y 1976 respectivamente, ‘The Snow Goose’ y ‘Moonmadness’, y ‘Nude’, publicado en 1981. Todo ello se publicarán el 24 de noviembre.
Hay nuevas mezclas y tres conciertos: The Marquee Club London 1974, Hammersmith Odeon 1976 y Hammersmith Odeon 1977 (realizados por Stephen W Tayler). Tomas descartadas inéditas de las sesiones de grabación del álbum y apariciones en la BBC ‘Radio In Concert’ de 1974, 1975, 1977 y 1981.
La caja también Incluye cinco Blu-rays. Tres contienen el nuevo estéreo y versiones 5.1 Surround Sound de los álbumes ‘Camel’, ‘Mirage’, ‘Music Inspired by The Snow Goose’, ‘Moonmadness’ y ‘Nude’ realizados por Stephen W Tayler. Uno es una colección de videos promocionales y apariciones en la televisión de la BBC en The Old Grey Whistle Test’ y Sight and Sound In Concert’ y el quinto Blu-ray es un vídeo de un directo que apareció en la película de 1984 «Pressure Points”. También se incluye un precioso libro ilustrado con un ensayo escrito por Mark Powell y un póster.
Sobre los cuatro vinilos. Publicado en febrero de 1973 en MCA Records, ‘Camel’ es el álbum de debut de la banda y uno de los más icónicos.
‘The Snow Goose’ es su tercer disco de estudio y se editó originalmente en 1975. El éxito de crítica de la suite de ‘The White Rider’ (basada en El Señor de los Anilos de J.R.R. Tolkien y que apareció en su álbum anterior publicado en 1974, Mirage), inspiró al grupo para componer suites conceptuales inspiradas en novelas.
‘Moonmadness’ es su cuarto álbum de estudio, se editó en marzo de 1976 y es el último disco que grabaron con la formación original de Andrew Latimer, Peter Bardens (1945-2002), Doug Ferguson y Andy Ward. ‘Moonmadness’ es un concepto más libre, que incluye un tema basado en la personalidad de cada miembro del grupo: ‘Air Born’ por Andrew Latimer, ‘ChordChange’ por Peter Bardens, ‘Another Night’ por Doug Ferguson y ‘Lunar Sea’ por Andy Ward.
‘Nude’ es su octavo álbum de estudio, originalmente publicado en enero de 1981. El álbum está basado en la historia real de un soldado japonés (Hiroo Onoda) abandonado en una isla en la Segunda Guerra mundial que no sabía que la guerra había acabado. El titulo del disco les vino al pensar que todos los hombres son iguales. Es el último disco de Camel en el que aparece el batería original, Andy Ward.
Camel es una banda inglesa de rock progresivo formada en Guilford, Surrey en 1971. Con el guitarrista Andrew LAtimer como líder, han publicado catorce álbumes de estudio y catorce singles, además de numerosos álbumes en directo y dvds. Con una larga y exitosa carrera, han sido uno de los verdaderos innovadores del rock progresivo y hoy en día artista de la talla de Steven Wilson, Marillion y Opeth los citan como referentes.
A pesar de que la banda ha sufrido numerosos cambios en su formación, Camel continúan adelante con su guitarrista y miembro fundador, Andrew Latimer, al frente. Camel han publicado discos y girado por todo el mundo. Recientemente (2018) volvían a los escenario en un Royal Albert Hall con todas las entradas vendidas.
